he Super Eagles camp has officially opened in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, as Nigeria prepares to face Benin Republic and Rwanda in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Seven players have already arrived, including team captain William Troost-Ekong, Ola Aina, Taiwo Awoniyi, Semi Ajayi, Ademola Lookman, Olisa Ndah, and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.

The team is under the guidance of Technical Director Augustine Eguavoen, who took over after German coach Bruno Labbadia rejected the Super Eagles coaching job. The Super Eagles will be keen on starting the AFCON qualifiers on a winning note, following four mediocre outings in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.

The players’ arrival marks the beginning of an intense preparation period, with the first match against Benin Republic scheduled for September 7 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium. The team will then travel to Kigali to face Rwanda on September 10.

The Super Eagles have a talented squad, with a mix of experienced players and new faces. Ademola Lookman, who won the Europa League with Atalanta, and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, who scored his first competitive goal for Nigeria in June, are among the players expected to make an impact.
