VAR denies Odion Ighalo two goals in Al-Wehda’s 1-1 Draw against Al Tai in Saudi Arabia

In a recent match Saudi Arabia Professional League match, Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo faced disappointment as VAR intervened to deny him two goals in Al-Wehda’s 1-1 draw against Al Tai.

The match, which took place on Friday, February 16, 2024, saw Ighalo starting for Al-Wehda. Despite numerous chances for both teams in the first half, neither side managed to break the deadlock.

In the 66th minute, Ighalo appeared to have found the back of the net, only for VAR to rule the goal out. However, Al Wehda eventually took the lead in the 72nd minute through a goal from defender Jawd El Yamiq.

Nevertheless, Ighalo’s frustration continued as VAR once again intervened to disallow his goal in the 86th minute. Despite Al Wehda’s efforts to hold onto their lead, Al Tai managed to equalize in the eighth minute of additional time through Andrei Cordea.

Despite the disappointment, Ighalo will look to bounce back and add to his goal tally when Al Wehda faces Al-Ittihad on Monday, February 26, 2024.
