Victor Moses joins English club as a free agent

Former Chelsea winger Victor Moses has made his return to English football after signing with Championship side Luton Town on a free transfer.

The 33-year-old Nigerian player left Russian club Spartak Moscow earlier this summer and has now joined the Hatters as they look to bolster their squad.

Moses, who initially joined Spartak Moscow on loan from Chelsea in 2020 before making the move permanent, enjoyed a successful spell at Stamford Bridge, particularly during Chelsea’s title-winning campaign under Antonio Conte.

Luton Town manager Rob Edwards expressed his enthusiasm about Moses’ arrival, stating, “We think he’s someone who can provide some really good competition for us.” Moses has already integrated with his new team, having participated in a behind-closed-doors match last week.

Luton, who have struggled early in the Championship season with just one point from their first four games, will hope Moses’ experience and quality will strengthen their campaign. The versatile winger is eager to contribute, saying, “I had a few offers from Europe, but I set my mind on staying here. I’m very pleased and honoured to be at this club, and I just can’t wait to get going.”

Looking ahead, Victor Moses added, “I want to come here, enjoy my football, work hard for the club and the team, and get back to where we belong in the Premier League.”

Moses could make his debut this weekend when Luton face Millwall in a challenging away fixture.
