In a video shared by Leverkusen on their social media pages, Boniface questioned the logic and criteria behind his passing rating, which was set at 66 despite his ten assists during the 2023-24 season.

“Why would you give me 66 for passing when I almost had ten assists? No, it’s bullsh*t,” he exclaimed, visibly disappointed and confused by the assessment.

Boniface’s dissatisfaction comes after a stellar season where he secured the Bundesliga Rookie of the Year award, showcasing his exceptional skills and contributions to his team.

His form has been critical for both club and country, with Boniface narrowly missing out on his first international goal during Nigeria’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Rwanda.

Despite the rating controversy, Boniface has continued to shine for Bayer Leverkusen, already scoring one goal in three appearances in the new campaign.

His performances have consistently impressed on the pitch, and international and local football fans will be watching to see how Boniface continues to prove his worth this season, regardless of his FIFA rating.

This controversy may be a figment of the ongoing debate about the accuracy and reliability of FIFA ratings, with many players and fans questioning the criteria used to determine them.

Boniface’s reaction adds to the growing list of players who have spoken out against their ratings, sparking a wider conversation about the impact of these ratings on player morale, motivation, and overall perception of their abilities.
