Nigerian striker Victor Boniface has expressed his preference for playing in Germany or Spain’s La Liga over the English Premier League.
The Bayer Leverkusen forward has been linked with Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, but insists he’s not keen on joining the Premier League.
In an interview with SportyTV, Boniface reiterated his long-held reservations about playing in the Premier League.

“I’ve been saying this even before I had an international passport, even before I dreamt of coming to Europe, I don’t really like the Premier League,” he stated.
Boniface’s impressive performances for Bayer Leverkusen have attracted attention from top European clubs. Last season, he registered 31 goal involvements (21 goals, 10 assists) in 34 appearances, helping Leverkusen win the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal.
Despite interest from Chelsea and Tottenham, Boniface emphasized his desire to continue playing in Germany or explore opportunities in La Liga. “I prefer Spanish football or German football. I’m not saying for example a good team comes for me I will not go.
But I am just saying if you ask me to pick two countries, I really want to play in Germany and Spain, to live and play in Germany and Spain.”
Boniface’s stance may come as a surprise, given the Premier League’s reputation as one of the world’s top leagues.
However, his preference for Germany and Spain’s playing styles highlights the diversity of footballing tastes among players.
The 23-year-old’s impressive start to the season, with four goals and an assist in six appearances, will likely keep him in the spotlight.
The transfer window beckons and Boniface’s future remains uncertain, but one thing is clear – the Premier League is not his preferred destination.
