The upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Mediterranean Knights of Libya will be officiated by a team of Malawian referees. The match is scheduled for Friday, October 11, 2024, at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Nigeria.
The Super Eagles will open their training camp in Uyo on Sunday, October 6, as they prepare for two crucial AFCON qualifiers against Libya. The first leg will take place in Uyo, while the return leg is set for October 15 in Benina, Libya.
Malawian referee and Physical Education teacher, Godfrey Philip Nkhakananga will oversee the first leg in Uyo, with Clemence Kanduku and Joseph Nyauti serving as assistant referees.

Botswana’s Keabetswe Dintwa will be the fourth official. Other key officials include Niger’s Issaka Boubacar as referee assessor, and Nigeria’s Mayowa Akingbemisilu as the broadcast venue manager. Munkaila Nassam Adam from Ghana will be the match commissioner.
The Super Eagles, who started their AFCON qualifiers strong with a 3-0 win over Benin Republic and a goalless draw against Rwanda, are eager to maintain their momentum. However, they will be without star striker Victor Osimhen, with Victor Boniface and Ademola Lookman leading the attack.
Training will begin on Monday once all the players have arrived, and the camp arrangements are in place. The officiating for this match will be closely watched after a controversial disallowed goal in Nigeria’s previous game against Rwanda.
