Wisdom Ndon scored a late consolation goal in Akwa United’s 2:1 loss to Sunshine Stars of Akure at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium today.
The lose prolonged their winless streak this season in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
The Promise Keepers, currently 13th in the NPFL standings, were seeking to bounce back from their recent struggles. However, Sunshine Stars had other plans.
W. J. Ndon scored for Akwa United in the 83rd minute, but it was too little, too late. Sunshine Stars’ C. Nwosu (19′) and S. M. Ademe (81′) had already sealed the victory for the visitors.
Akwa United’s coach, Baba Ganaru, will be disappointed with his team’s performance. Despite creating scoring opportunities, they failed to capitalize. The defeat highlights the team’s struggles in front of goal.
