Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso has spoken about how in-form Nigerian striker, Victor Boniface was discovered and the quality that has made him a talking point in the German Bundesliga.
Boniface has been a brilliant signing for Xabi Alonso tutored Leverkusen, scoring seven goals in the league to power them up to second place in the league, behind champions Bayern Munich.
Xabi Alonso has been really impressed with the 22-year-old’s performances since he arrived.
The Spanish manager also revealed the one encounter that Die Werkself discovered Boniface will make a good buy .
“I already knew Boniface was a top player when Bayer Leverkusen played Royale Union SG in the Europa League last season,” Alonso is quoted by Oma Akatugba.
“He was a strong candidate for us; we are very satisfied with him. He has adapted himself very well to the team’s plan and the tempo of the Bundesliga.”
“It is not easy; there are a lot of good central defenders to come up against, but he has the quality, he is strong.”
Apart from his goal-scoring exploits, Boniface has been able to assist teammates to add to his nine goals in all competitions.
