Enyimba, led by their young coach Yemi Olanrewaju, secured a spot in the CAF Confederation Cup group stage after a tense penalty shootout win over Burkina Faso’s Etoile Filante in Uyo.
The People’s Elephants overcame their opponents 3-2 in penalties after both legs ended goalless, making Enyimba Nigeria’s sole representative in the competition.
Despite dominating much of the match, Enyimba struggled to convert their chances, leading to a nail-biting shootout. Both sides missed multiple spot-kicks, but Enyimba held their nerve, converting three of their penalties while Etoile Filante managed only two.

However, the news wasn’t as good for Rangers FC, who saw their CAF Champions League journey end with a 3-1 defeat to Angola’s Sagrada Esperanca. Enyimba FC will aim to build on this hard-fought victory and make an impact in the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup.
