Peter Ijeh criticizes Victor Osimhen’s attitude amid transfer uncertainty

Former Nigeria striker Peter Ijeh has suggested that suitors are steering clear of Napoli’s Victor Osimhen due to his attitude and character.

In a recent Facebook post, Ijeh, who played a significant part of his career in Scandinavia, remarked on the close-knit nature of European football communities and how they value attitude and character. He believes Osimhen fails to grasp this crucial aspect.

“How I wish he understood that Europe is a small community that takes attitude and character as keys because it is directly influenced by children, and at the same time, they are notorious for double standards. Even Lagos is bigger than six countries, so it is more or less a community where everybody knows everybody,” Ijeh commented, reflecting on Osimhen’s verbal criticism of former Super Eagles coach Finidi George.

Osimhen, who has announced his intention to leave Napoli, has faced challenges in securing a transfer. Napoli initially set his release clause at £100 million, a figure that has deterred potential buyers. Despite lowering the sum to £85 million, clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea, and Arsenal have shown hesitation. Manchester United has even shifted its focus to Alvaro Morata.

Napoli reportedly offered Osimhen to Manchester United, proposing a deal that included Mason Greenwood and some cash, but this too has not materialized.

Adding to the uncertainty, new Napoli coach Antonio Conte has reportedly informed Osimhen that he will not be the main striker next season.

As the situation unfolds, Osimhen’s future remains in limbo, with his character and attitude becoming focal points in discussions about his potential moves.
