The League Bloggers Award returns for its 12th year, and the top prize is up for grabs. Enyimba striker Chijioke Mbaoma, Remo Stars and Super Eagles defender Sodiq Ismail, and Akwa United’s Sani Suleiman are the top contenders for the NPFL best player award.
Mbaoma finished the 2023/24 NPFL season as the highest goal scorer with 17 goals, while Ismail recorded 13 assists and one goal for Remo Stars. Suleiman scored 11 goals and two assists in 19 appearances for Akwa United, earning him a spot among the top three contenders. The 17-year-old Suleiman is also nominated for the Rookie of The Season award, alongside Enyimba midfielder Daniel Daga and Remo Stars defender Ahmed Akinyele.
In the goalkeepers’ category, Amas Obasogie of Bendel Insurance, who holds the record for the highest number of clean sheets kept in a single season, will compete with Rangers’ Japhet Opubo and Okemutie Odah of 3SC.

The women’s league best player award will be contested by Edo Queens duo Suliat Abideen and Emem Essien, as well as Robo Queens’ Folashade Ijamilusi. The best NWFL coach award nominees include Edo Queens title-winning coach Moses Adiku, Bankole Olowookere of Naija Ratels, and Whyte Ogbonda, who led Rivers Angels to the President Federation Cup title.
The NPFL Coach of The Season category nominees are Daniel Ogunmodede, Fidelis Ilechukwu, and Gbenga Ogunbote. The best player in the NNL award will be contested by Dada Oladimeji of Madiba FC, Beyond Limits prodigy Kparobo Arierhi, and Ikorodu City captain Waliu Ojetoye.
The awards ceremony will hold on Friday in Lagos, with 17 awards to be handed out, including Club Media of The Season, Club Fans of The Season, and Best Brand Sponsorship.
