Following Osimhen’s energetic display against Cameroon in the 2023 AFCON round of 16 matches, Victor Osimhen has been subjected to a random dope test by the CAF.

Victor Osimhen played a significant role for the Super Eagles of Nigeria in their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations group stage and the Round of 16 clash against Cameroon

According to reports,  The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has picked the Nigeria international striker Victor Osimhen randomly multiple times after games at AFCON for dope tests.

The Nigerian international also underwent the test following the match against Guinea-Bissau and Cote d’Ivoire.

The Napoli striker was fouled for the penalty that gave Nigeria a 1-0 win over the Ivorians.

Osimhen then put in a ‘battering ram’ performance against the Indomitable Lions as they won 2-0 in a last-16 clash on Sunday.

He set up the first goal for Ademola Lookman and was a constant menace for the Cameroonians before he was replaced by Paul Onuachu late in the game.

Similarly, FC Nantes forward Simon Moses, the 2023 Confederation of African Football Best Player Of The Year, and William Troost-Ekong have also been subjected to dope tests.

The random tests are standard procedures, typically conducted on players whose enhanced energy levels may raise suspicions of substance use.

Additionally, sources revealed that two Cameroonian players also underwent similar tests, noting that Osimhen is not the sole player involved in the tournament.
