Napoli manager Antonio Conte has provided an important update regarding the future of star striker Victor Osimhen.
The Nigerian forward, who has a €130 million release clause in his contract, is facing an uncertain future as no European club has yet shown willingness to meet the staggering fee. This situation leaves open the possibility of Osimhen remaining in Italy beyond this transfer window.
Despite the uncertainty, Conte emphasised the importance of Osimhen continuing to work hard in training. “I spoke to Victor and there are no changes in his situation. He’s a top player,” Conte said, according to Fabrizio Romano.
As Napoli begins their pre-season training, Osimhen has rejoined his teammates, though ongoing speculation about his future might test his focus. Victor Osimhen has expressed a preference for a move to the Premier League, but no concrete offers have materialized so far.
Meanwhile, Napoli is preparing for all eventualities and is reportedly considering Romelu Lukaku as a potential replacement should Osimhen leave.
“He’s a Napoli player today, so he needs to work hard, even if we have an agreement and still we don’t know the outcome of this story,” Conte added.
