Renowned football journalist Fabrizio Romano has provided a significant update on the proposed transfer of Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen to French giants PSG. According to Romano, negotiations between PSG and Napoli have hit a major roadblock, casting doubt on the deal.
“Negotiations between PSG and Napoli for Osimhen, not advancing after recent talks,” Romano tweeted. He further stated, “PSG rejected to include Kang-in Lee in the deal and will not trigger release clause as Napoli wanted. Deal NOT happening under these conditions.”
This development comes as a surprise, given earlier reports that Osimhen had agreed personal terms with PSG. The Italian outlet Tuttosport claimed the 25-year-old had “shaken hands with the French giants on a five-year deal worth €14 million per season,” representing a significant increase from his current €10 million annual salary at Napoli.

However, Romano’s update indicates the deal is now in jeopardy. PSG’s reluctance to meet Napoli’s demands has created a significant obstacle, and it remains to be seen whether the parties can reach a compromise. Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda, was in Paris to negotiate terms, but the transfer fee has become a major stumbling block.
Napoli is holding firm on the player’s €130 million release clause, while PSG has considered offering €100 million plus a player. Sky Sport Italia suggested that PSG proposed including players like Carlos Soler, Nordi Mukiele, or Lee Kang-in as part of the transfer package. However, Romano’s latest update indicates that PSG is unwilling to part with Lee Kang-in.
Romano noted, “PSG also happy with Ramos & Kolo Muani.” This may indicate a reduced urgency to sign Osimhen, leaving the Nigerian striker’s future uncertain.
The Nigerian forward had reportedly rejoined his teammates for the preseason tours under new coach Antonio Conte.
He has maintained a professional attitude during Napoli’s pre-season training, impressing new coach Antonio Conte. However, the Nigerian striker is not believed to be in Conte’s plans for the upcoming season.
