Acording to reports from Argentine daily newspaper El Día, Liga Profesional Argentina club Gimnasia are on the verge of signing 2015 FIFA U17 World Cup winner Christian Ebere on a loan deal from Uruguayan side Nacional. The deal, worth $150,000, will see Ebere join Gimnasia until December 2025, with the option to purchase him permanently.
Ebere, who has struggled to find his footing since winning the U17 World Cup, has been relegated to the bench at Nacional, with manager Martín Lasarte preferring younger talent. Despite his impressive performance at Club Plaza Colonia, where he scored 19 goals in 53 appearances, Ebere’s career has stalled since joining Nacional.
The 26-year-old forward has had a journeyman’s career, playing for nine different clubs since winning the U17 World Cup. He played alongside Victor Osimhen in the 2015 tournament, featuring in five games and scoring one goal.

Gimnasia’s interest in Ebere is seen as a surprise move, given his lack of playing time at Nacional. However, the Argentine club sees potential in the Nigerian forward and hopes to revive his career.
Ebere’s move to Gimnasia is subject to a medical examination and final approval from both clubs. If successful, he will join a long list of Nigerian players plying their trade in Argentina.
