Victor Osimhen, who has been a significant figure in Nigerian football, joins Galatasaray after a summer marked by intense transfer speculation involving Chelsea and Saudi Arabian club Al Ahli. Despite his desire to leave Napoli, Osimhen faced an unexpected turn of events. After failing to secure a transfer away, he was effectively sidelined by Napoli, which prompted the loan move to Galatasaray.
In terms of financials, Galatasaray has committed to covering Osimhen’s impressive €12.8 million annual salary in full for the loan duration. However, the club will actually pay a slightly reduced amount, approximately €9-10 million, aligning closely with Osimhen’s previous earnings at Napoli and significantly more than Chelsea’s offer.
To facilitate this loan move, Osimhen has agreed to extend his contract with Napoli. This extension includes a €75 million release clause, ensuring that Napoli retains substantial leverage over his future market value.
The unveiling of Victor Osimhen highlights Galatasaray’s ambition and the high expectations placed on the Nigerian forward. His arrival is anticipated to bring fresh energy and skill to the Turkish giants as they continue their campaign in the Super Lig and European competitions.
