Victor Osimhen has apologized to his former coach Finidi George, according to former Super Eagles midfielder John Ogu.
The Napoli striker had previously made headlines for a 10-minute Instagram Live rant in which he insulted and accused the legendary winger of disrespecting him.
The incident occurred following Finidi’s resignation as Super Eagles coach after just two matches. Reports suggested that Finidi had stated he wouldn’t beg Osimhen to play for Nigeria, prompting the striker’s outburst.
However, Ogu has now revealed that Osimhen has taken responsibility for his actions.

“Has he apologized? I am sure he has,” Ogu said in a video on Instagram PER FOOTBALLTRIBE, offering a personal perspective on the situation. Ogu described Osimhen as a “good boy” and a “respectful” individual, even from his under-17 days.
This insight suggests that Osimhen’s outburst may have been an understandable reaction to being accused of faking an injury or refusing to play for the national team. “Osimhen, to say he won’t play for Nigeria or fake injury? It’s not possible. He is a fighter, he wants to win, I know him for that one,” Ogu emphasized, highlighting Osimhen’s competitive spirit and dedication to the Super Eagles.
Ogu also revealed that he had reached out to Osimhen, advising him to “relax” amid the heated exchange with Finidi. This gesture of support and understanding reflects the unity and camaraderie among former and current Super Eagles players.
