The public spat between Mikel Obi and Nicolas Jackson continues, with Obi responding to Jackson’s social media attack after scoring in Chelsea’s 6-2 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Obi, a former Chelsea midfielder, has been critical of Jackson’s inconsistency in front of goal, urging Chelsea to sign Victor Osimhen instead.

On his podcast, The Obi One, Obi namechecked his former teammate Didier Drogba, saying, “I would like to see my African brother like he said do well in the Premier League, come to Chelsea, a big club, a massive club, where you know we have had one of the greatest strikers in Didier Drogba from Africa, Ivory Coast, did really well.”

Striker Didier Drogba will go down as one of the most iconic African players in Premier League history, reaching a century of goals with Chelsea, winning four league titles and twice claiming the Golden Boot prize.

Didier Drogba scored 164 goals for Chelsea in 381 games.

Obi added, “If he plays well, I will praise him! If there is something to be said about him, where he needs to improve, I will definitely say it, and you know if he scores every week and tells me to shut up, I’ll take it.”

Jackson’s inconsistency has led Chelsea to consider signing a new striker, with Osimhen a top target.

Obi’s comments will be closely watched, especially as Chelsea challenges for the title this season. With Jackson’s goal-scoring form crucial to the team’s success, Obi’s criticism will be seen as a challenge to the Senegalese striker to prove himself.

Mikel made a controversial transfer to Premier League club Chelsea in 2006 after Manchester United claimed they had already signed him. He stayed with Chelsea for 11 years, before moving to China with Tianjin TEDA in 2017.
