The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has announced its readiness to revolutionize officiating in the league with the introduction of Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology and communication aides for referees. This development was announced at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Lagos on July 15.

According to NPFL Chairman, Hon Gbenga Elegbeleye, the league is determined to build on recent successes, while NFF President, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, revealed the procurement of communication gadgets to minimize errors. The introduction of VAR and improved refereeing is poised to take the league to new heights.

The draws for Matchday One were conducted with the participation of former Nigerian football stars, Austin Eguavoen, Peter Rufai, and Garba Lawal, revealing exciting fixtures. The 2024/25 NPFL season promises to be a thrilling ride, with teams competing for the top spot and a prize money of N200m.
