NPFL regerian football legend Segun Odegbami has revealed that Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa plans to use his potential return to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) as a stepping stone to secure a spot in the national team for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Musa, currently without a club, hinted at a possible NPFL return, sparking speculation about his future.

Odegbami, a former Nigerian international, wishes Musa luck but expresses concerns about the challenges he may face.

“Few players in Nigeria’s football history have successfully returned to the NPFL to end their careers and make a significant impact,” Odegbami noted.
Musa started his career in the NPFL before moving abroad and has previously returned to play in the league with Kano Pillars.

Musa’s NPFL stint with Kano Pillars was fruitful, and he now seeks to replicate that success.
“He intends to leverage that ‘project’ to play his way back into the Super Eagles for the 2025 AFCON in Morocco,” Odegbami explained.
Former Nigerian international Odegbami cautioned that Musa’s return to the NPFL might not be straightforward.
“The NPFL has evolved, and the competition is fiercer. Musa will need to adapt quickly,” Odegbami warned.
Musa, 31, has had an illustrious career, playing for clubs like CSKA Moscow, Leicester City, and Al-Nassr.
He has 108 caps for Nigeria, scoring 16 goals.
Musa’s potential return to the NPFL and the Super Eagles will be closely watched.
