Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has taken to social media to express his joy after completing a surprise move to Turkish champions, Galatasaray.
The 25-year-old striker, who had been linked with Chelsea and Al Ahli, finally sealed a loan deal to the Super Lig giants following a dramatic summer transfer window.
Osimhen’s proposed move to Chelsea and Al Ahli fell through after complications in negotiations, leaving Galatasaray to swoop in and secure the prolific forward. With the European transfer window closed, Galatasaray took advantage of the extended Turkish market, agreeing on a season-long loan deal that covers €9-10 million of Osimhen’s wages.
The Nigerian international shared his excitement via a heartfelt tweet, stating, “Super excited to be part of the Galatasaray family! 🦁 I can’t wait to give my all and make the most of this new journey with such an amazing group and the fans. Ready to create unforgettable memories together! Let’s go! @GalatasaraySK.”

Osimhen, who will don the number 45 jersey, is expected to lead the Galatasaray attack in Mauro Icardi’s absence. The club plans to pair the two strikers once Icardi returns from injury in October, creating a formidable partnership between two former Serie A top scorers.
This move marks the next chapter in Osimhen’s career after an impressive season at Napoli, where he played a pivotal role in the club’s Serie A title triumph. Galatasaray fans have already expressed their excitement, eagerly anticipating Osimhen’s debut and the impact he will bring to the club’s domestic and European campaigns.
Osimhen’s arrival has generated significant buzz in Turkey, with the club hailed for its Nigerian-themed unveiling of the striker.
