Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen played a key role in Galatasaray’s 3-1 victory over William Troost-Ekong’s former team PAOK in their Europa League opener on Wednesday night at Rams Park.

Although Osimhen didn’t score, his influence was felt throughout the match as he helped set up key plays, continuing to make an impact for his new club.

Osimhen’s presence was crucial in the opening goal, as his header from a Dries Mertens corner led to an own goal by PAOK defender Abdul Rahman Baba. PAOK equalised later, but Galatasaray regained control when Osimhen’s headed pass assisted Yunus in scoring a powerful goal to make it 2-1.

This marked Osimhen’s third assist in three matches for Galatasaray, showcasing his growing role as a playmaker. Though yet to score for the club, Osimhen’s contributions have been significant, creating chances and working tirelessly for the team. He was substituted with 12 minutes left, and Mauro Icardi added the third goal to seal the victory.
