VIDEO: Stanley Nwabali stuns crowd with unbelievable long throw pass in South Africa

Chippa United goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali

Super Eagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, stunned the crowd with an unbelievable long throw pass in Chippa United’s 2-0 win over Golden Arrows in the South African Premier Soccer League.

The 28-year-old shot-stopper had intercepted the ball in his box from a corner kick to set up an amazing counterattack with a long ball of over 70 yards from his hands.

Posting a video clip of the amazing long ball on his X handle, Nwabali posted: “Where your leg can kick the ball to, my hand go run am.”

Nwabali boasts impressive statistics, showcasing his exceptional goalkeeping skills. In the NPFL before moving abroad, he played 87 games, conceding only 33 goals.

In the PSL, he played 39 games with only 13 goals conceded. Additionally, he stood in-between the sticks for Chippa United for 6 games in the Nedbank Cup this season, conceding only 2 goals.

To crown off his hot form this season, Nwabali has yet to concede a goal in the CAF Confederation Cup, playing 2 games.

He made history in February 2024 by becoming the first Nigerian goalkeeper to keep four consecutive clean sheets in a major tournament in 44 years.

Fans took to the comments section of the video to praise Nwabali, likening him to Super Eagles legend Vincent Enyeama. “Every day you give other Super Eagles goalkeepers more reason to stay on the bench.”

“Dem go chop bench tire… Nwabali is our number one for now.” “Even some keepers’ goal kicks don’t reach that length.” Another said: “If only goalkeepers took throw-ins, you’d probably take throwing for Nigeria, like you’d throw the ball into the net!”

Stanley Nwabali is expected to be between the sticks once again for the Super Eagles of Nigeria for the AFCON qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda, although coach Austin Eguavoen had hinted earlier about resting him in one of the games for Udinese goalie Maduka Okoye who has also been in top form this season.
